Dr. Pfaff holds a doctorate and masters in Counseling Psychology. His bachelors degree is in Physics with a minor in Mathematics.
Since 1980, Dr. Pfaff has been a consultant working in the area of employee selection techniques. He has also consulted extensively in the areas of management development, team building, organizational needs assessment, and performance appraisal. Dr. Pfaff has acted as a consultant to hundreds of organizations of all sizes. He is also an accomplished public speaker.

Dr. Pfaff is author of the SELECTPro® Selection Interview system, which includes the SELECTPro® selection interview software, handbook, and training program. The SELECTPro® system is a method of conducting behavior-based interviewing of job candidates.
Dr. Pfaff has also done a great deal of work in the area of survey development, utilization, and validation. Since 1989 he has worked extensively on the implementation of 360-degree feedback systems. He is the author of the Management-Leadership Practices Inventory (MLPI), the Team Practices Inventory (TPI), and the Professional Communication Inventory (PCI). The MLPI, TPI, and PCI are 360-degree feedback inventories designed to assess developmental needs of individuals and groups. His materials have been used at more than two hundred organizations around the world.
In addition to the above work, Dr. Pfaff is the former Dean of the School of Management at Aquinas College and currently Associate Professor of Psychology at Spring Arbor University. He has also been a faculty member for the Stryker Center for Management Studies at Kalamazoo College, and he has taught graduate classes at Western Michigan University.
Dr. Pfaff's research has been cited in HR Magazine, Inc., BusinessWeek, Working Woman, Incentive, Executive Female, Across the Board, the Detroit Free Press, Retailing Today, and Data-Based Edutrends (Canada). He has appeared as a guest on numerous radio programs across the U.S. and Canada including the Associated Press Radio Network, Michigan Public Radio and "On the Line" (WNYC, New York). He has presented on 360-degree feedback at the Society for Industrial and Organization Psychology National Conference, the Michigan Association for Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the West Michigan Chapter of the International Society for Performance and Instruction. He is the author of the chapter, "Using 360 Degree Feedback in Leadership Development" in CULTUREShift: A Leader's Guide to Managing Change in Healthcare, by American Hospital Publishing, 1997.
He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and he is a member of the State of Michigan Board of Counseling.
